Calvio privacy policy

Calvio, the AI calorie tracker for iPhone, by JARAMAH INC. Last updated November 4, 2026.

The short version

  • Your food journal, goals, body measurements, workouts, water and weight are saved on your iPhone, not on our servers.
  • When Calvio estimates a food, what you typed or said (as text), or a photo you chose, is sent through our server to OpenAI, and nothing is kept afterward. You choose whether to allow this; Apple Intelligence on your iPhone works without it.
  • Apple handles subscription payments. We never see your card details.
  • No ads, no tracking across apps, and we never sell your data.

What stays on your iPhone

Everything you log or save: foods and meals, saved meals, workouts, water, weight, goals, height, age and sex, and your settings. API keys you add are kept in your iPhone's Keychain. Settings → Delete account and all data, or deleting the app, removes it.

Your account

You can use Calvio without an account. If you choose Sign in with Apple, Apple shares a private ID and, the first time, your name and email if you allow it. These are kept on your iPhone only; we don't run an account server. Settings → Delete account and all data removes the account and everything with it.

What the AI receives

To estimate nutrition, the app sends our server (run on Cloudflare) the text you typed or said, a photo you chose of a meal, nutrition label or menu, or the name and address of a restaurant you picked. Our server passes it to OpenAI, which may search the web for published nutrition (for example USDA FoodData Central or a restaurant's nutrition page), and returns the answer with the pages it used. To estimate a workout, the app also sends your approximate body weight; to suggest dishes from a menu, how many calories you have left today and your goal (lose, keep or gain weight).

We ask OpenAI not to store these requests, and they aren't used to train AI models. OpenAI may keep requests for up to 30 days to detect abuse, then deletes them. Our server keeps no copy. It keeps only daily request counts for an anonymous device ID (a random number made by the app, or an Apple App Attest key), deleted after two days, to stop abuse and keep costs in check.

If you add your own Claude or OpenAI key in Settings, requests go straight from your iPhone to that company under your own account and their privacy terms. If you choose Apple Intelligence, it runs on your iPhone (or Apple's Private Cloud Compute) and nothing is sent to us.

Other services Calvio uses

Estimates, not medical advice

Calvio's numbers are estimates and can be wrong. Calvio doesn't give medical advice; talk to a doctor or dietitian about your diet, especially if you have a health condition or a history of disordered eating.

Children

Calvio isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.

Your choices

You can turn off sending to AI companies, or switch to Apple Intelligence, in Settings → AI at any time; stop Health sharing in the Health app; and delete everything in Settings → Delete account and all data. Because we don't keep your journal on our servers, there is nothing else to delete; daily counts expire on their own. Cancel a subscription in your Apple Account settings.
